Final Dance - PromAU(ArminxReader)

You were content with sitting at the table and watching your friends pair up with each other until someone tapped your shoulder and cleared their throat. You turned your head, your (e/c) eyes wide in surprise and saw....

Armin Arlert, his cheeks coated in a bright red blush as one hand ran through his blonde hair. His blue eyes flickered to your face and back to the floor, and he folded his hands politely behind his back as he shifted from foot to foot nervously. "H-Hey, I uh. Y'know." He cleared his throat as he stumbled over his words and hooked a finger around his tie, loosening it a bit. "Would y-you like to d-dance with me?"

You smiled kindly up at the nervous boy and nodded, noticing that he had contacts in instead of wearing his glasses. He was so shy that it shocked you that he had asked at all. You rose from your seat and hooked your arm around his, earning a small smile from him. x He turned to face you, took in a deep breath to steel his nerves and rested one hand gently on your hip while the other clasped your hand. He smiled at you and danced... If you could call it dancing. He was stiff and rigid, nervously glancing around the room. You chuckled and squeezed his hand, "Armin, relax, it's just me."

He nodded and relaxed, though only slightly. You swayed from side to side, determined to get him to relax into the dance. You leaned your head on his shoulder. He tensed, but eased up with a breathy laugh as he continued to sway.

Armin was a good friend of yours. Quiet, intelligent, absolutely adorable, all you wanted to do was find any way to make him flustered. The way he fidgeted and blushed was quite possibly the cutest thing you had ever seen. He didn't seem to mind, though. He often times would meet you in the library after school or during breaks and chat quietly about your classes or a book he had recently read. The one thing that caused him to light up brighter than the sun was talking about space or the ocean. His fascination with the endless night sky and the curious depths of underwater caverns that had yet to be discovered was beyond your wildest dreams. He knew everything there was to know about the stars and planets, the countless theories about black holes and The Big Bang. He could talk for hours just spouting off random facts about the ocean floor and the deepest chasm in the world, the hundreds of thousands of species that hadn't been identified yet. You would zone out at times, but it was mainly just because of the way his eyes brightened and his face lit up with a bright smile that only you had the chance to witness.

In return for listening to him babble, Armin allowed you to do countless things to his hair; Braid it, put it up in a man-bun (which you tried hopelessly to get him to wear it that way more often), even made him wear your beanies. You couldn't help but nearly die a little every time that he wore a beanie on his own or asked you - with a blush on his cheeks - to put his hair up for him on hot afternoons. Completely honestly, he made you swoon. You couldn't tell him that, though. He'd probably have a heart attack from his nerves. And so you two swayed in comfortable silence as the soothing melody wrapped around you.

Suddenly, you felt him press his lips to your hair. You sucked in a sharp breath in shock and pulled away, your (e/c) eyes wide.

His face was bright red but his eyes never wavered from your gaze as he took a deep breath and started to speak, "(F/n), I just want to tell you that you mean the world to me. You listen to me babble nonstop about space and the sea and the countless things that are out there that we haven't found yet and I want you to know how much I appreciate that. Please don't say anything yet," He murmured the last part as he noticed your mouth opening. He cleared his throat and continued, "I just... Discovering a creature at the bottom of the sea or finding a new planet or a new galaxy would mean nothing to me if you weren't there to be with me when I did it. It'd be empty if I couldn't share it with you."

Your smile was wide as your eyes pricked with tears. Armin fidgeted nervously, "Y-You can say something now..."

You didn't say anything, though. You simply hugged him and placed a kiss on his cheek. "Armin, you're so wonderful. Are you asking me out?" You asked him teasingly.

He gave his signature nervous breathy laugh and looked away, his blue eyes bright as his body relaxed in relief, "Yeah, I guess I am." You hugged him tightly again, loving the way that his arms circled around you in a gentle, yet protective manner.

The song ended much sooner than you had hoped, but Armin didn't mind. He pressed a shy kiss to your forehead, blue eyes ablaze with a new kind of energy, and held your hand as the two of you went to find your friends and end the magical night with some bowling.
